India pace bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series in New Zealand after failing to recover from a hamstring injury, the country's cricket board said on Friday.

The right-arm seam bowler was initially named in the squad for the first three of the five ODI matches starting November 4 in Auckland, subject to fitness clearance.

Krishna "will need additional time to build up the workload required to be ready for matches", the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.

The 30-year-old will join the India A squad to stake a claim for the two-Test series in New Zealand starting November 19.

Pace bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy will also link up with India A.

India's T20 team has taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series of the ongoing tour.
