Brentford's Mikkel Damsgaard: Playing through pain

Rotowire• ·

Damsgaard has been playing through pain in his right foot but will be available for Wednesday's EFL Cup match against Sunderland, according to manager Keith Andrews. "We've had to be careful with him. He evaded a pretty naughty tackle [on international duty] and we were pretty worried that that might be quite significant. Because it was right foot, he was still feeling it, but coming into the Hull game he started to be a little bit more pain free. He's in a better place now but he's obviously had a pretty disrupted last few weeks. He's good to go."

Analysis:

Damsgaard has played off the bench in Brentford's last two matches, logging 13 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Liverpool and 28 in the 1-1 draw at Hull City. The playmaker has made just three starts in the current EPL campaign, but it sounds as if he has a good chance to remain involved when the Bees take on Sunderland this Wednesday as they'll look to secure a spot in the EFL Cup semifinals.
