The Montreal Canadiens held on for a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets in the Heritage Classic at Princess Auto Stadium on Sunday.

Jets winger Isak Rosen scored late to give the home team life and spoil Jacob Fowler's shutout. But that wound up being the only shot that beat Fowler, who recorded 34 saves.

"He's just really good," Cole Caufield said postgame when asked what he's learning about Fowler early this season. Caufield recorded assists on both of the Habs goals in the contest.

Habs forward Josh Anderson was called for tripping with 1:32 remaining but Montreal killed the penalty.

The Canadiens got second-period goals from Lane Hutson and Kaiden Guhle.

Stuart Skinner stopped 19 of 21 shots against in the loss.

This is the second time the stadium used by the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers has hosted an outdoor game. The Edmonton Oilers beat the Jets 3-0 in the first iteration back in 2016.
