Toronto's center depth will be challenged behind Auston Matthews with Tavares out. Tavares had notched two goals and five assists in seven games this season before his injury.
Here's how the Maple Leafs lined up at practice ahead of Saturday's tilt with the New York Islanders.

The club is also currently without defenseman Chris Tanev, who's considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury.
The Maple Leafs are 3-3-2 to start the season.
