Gakpo (ankle) has been left out of Liverpool's 23-man traveling squad for Wednesday's Champions League clash against LASK as he continues recovering from an injury, according to James Pearce of The Athletic.
Analysis:Gakpo sustained an ankle injury following a heavy challenge while representing the Netherlands during the international break, forcing him to miss Sunday's Premier League clash against Manchester City. Manager Andoni Iraola previously indicated that the winger's recovery would largely depend on his ability to manage the pain, suggesting the injury is not expected to result in an extended absence. However, Gakpo has yet to recover sufficiently to return to competitive action, leaving Liverpool without another attacking option Wednesday. Bradley Barcola and Rio Ngumoha could continue seeing additional opportunities on the left wing, while Gakpo's availability for the next league fixture against Brentford on Saturday remains uncertain.
