Gustavsson (hip) was placed on long-term injured reserve Friday.
Analysis:Gustavsson was placed on injured reserve ahead of the regular season following offseason hip surgery, and he isn't expected to return until around early November. As a result, it isn't very surprising to see him shift to long-term injured reserve, and the move shouldn't impact his return timetable. Jesper Wallstedt should continue to serve as Minnesota's No. 1 netminder in Gustavsson's absence.
