Brown (shoulder) is not expected to play in Friday's game at Washington but could end up available in an emergency role, Pete Thamel of ESPN reports.
Analysis:Even though Brown previously expressed confidence in his availability for Week 6, his head coach Kirk Ferentz said otherwise, and the head coach backed up his statement based on Thamel's report. Jeremy Hecklinski will start Week 6, and if he goes down, the lack of proven options under center may lead the Hawkeyes to use Brown instead of leaning on their other backups. It is still unlikely, as is Brown logging a starter-level stat line in Iowa's second conference game on the road this season.
