The 49ers placed Pettis on the practice squad injured list Wednesday due to a calf injury, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis:As a result of the transaction, Pettis won't be eligible for elevation to the active roster for any of the 49ers' next four games. San Francisco signed fellow wideout Xavier Smith to take Pettis' spot on the practice squad.
