Raiders' Dont'e Thornton: Practice window opened

Rotowire• ·

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak announced Wednesday that Thornton has been designated for return from injured reserve, Sam Warren of The Athletic reports.

Analysis:

Thornton's injury was previously undisclosed, but Levi Edwards of the Raiders' official site reported Wednesday that it was a hamstring issue that cost the wideout considerable practice time during training camp and the preseason before he opened the regular season on IR. Though he's made enough progress in his recovery to resume practicing, Thornton may need more than a week to get back up to full speed after missing the Raiders' first four games. Once he's activated from IR, Thornton will be facing an uncertain outlook for playing time. Las Vegas has been relying on Tre Tucker, Jalen Nailor (concussion) and Cody White as its primary options at receiver lately while funneling their passing game through tight ends Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer.
