Merino came off the bench at halftime and scored twice to lead Spain to a 2-1 comeback victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League, according to the club.
Analysis:Merino made a decisive impact after entering at the break, first finishing a Dani Olmo pass for the equalizer before converting from Martin Zubimendi's delivery for the winning goal. The midfielder has now scored three times during the international break, including his goal off the bench against the Czech Republic. His strong production for Spain could strengthen his case for increased minutes at Arsenal, where he has made five Premier League appearances off the bench this season without recording a goal or assist.
