Williams ran eight times for 42 yards in the Notre Dame 37-26 win over North Carolina on Saturday.
Analysis:Williams was supposed to be the lead back this season, but it seems that he is sharing the running back load with Nolan Jamesand Jonaz Walton. Because the Irish schedule is fairly light, the team might be conserving Williams for the toughest part of the schedule, BYU and Miami (Fla.). Whomever is the flavor of the week, Notre Dame should be able to run against Stanford on Oct. 10. The Cardinal defense is in the bottom third in the country against the run.
