Bates totaled 27 carries for 74 yards and gathered in 2 of 3 targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 20-16 victory against Hawaii.
Analysis:Bates matched his season high with 27 carries in the victory, as the Spartans continue to deploy a more balanced offense this year -- the senior is up to 104 carries through five games after totaling 97 carries in his first three seasons with San Jose State. Despite the increased volume, Bates will still be looking for his first touchdown in 2026 next week, when the Spartans host Wyoming.
