Mathews tallied six rushes for 108 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's 61-7 victory versus UTEP.
Analysis:Matthews would finish the day as New Mexico's leading rusher, thanks to a 54-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter, his first score this season. It was a nice showing for Mathews in the lopsided victory -- the sophomore had failed to log a carry in the Lobos' previous two contests while serving as the third string behind Scottre Humphrey and Kiefer Sibley.
