John Marshall Butler: T9 at AdventHealth Championship

Rotowire ·

Butler carded a one-under par 71 in the final round of the AdventHealth Championship to finish in a tie for ninth place.

Analysis:

Butler began his week on the right foot as he opened with a five-under par 67 and then followed it up in round two with a ten-under par 62. This hot start allowed Butler to race to the top of the leaderboard with the rest of the contenders. His second round 62 was due in part to him gaining 2.216 strokes on the field off the tee, ranking 1st in the field in round two, as well as gaining 3.187 strokes on the field in SG: Putting, ranking ninth in the field. While his game off the tee and on the greens came back down to earth in round three, he was still able to use his strong approach play to gain 2.716 strokes on the field in round three, to card another strong six-under par 66. However on Sunday Butler's game didn't seem to hold up to the final round pressure as he carded a disappointing one-under 71. On a day where nothing seemed to be working, Butler still worked hard to grind to his second top-10 finish on the season.
