McComb will be Miami (OH)'s starting quarterback, per Pete Nakos of On3.com.
Analysis:McComb beat out both Thomas Gotkowski and Caleb Heavner for the starting role for the Redhawks. McComb's dual-threat ability gave him the edge over Gotkowski, primarily a pocket passer and not known for his legs. His experience at the Division I level with Kansas gave him the advantage over Heavner, a transfer from Division II school Fort Hays. Miami (OH) will begin its season at Pittsburgh on Sept. 5.
