Jordan Spieth: Missing out on BMW Championship

Rotowire ·

Spieth posted a four-under cumulative score at the FedEx St. Jude Championship to finish tied for 19th.

Analysis:

Spieth entered the week 54th in the FedExCup Standings, and he needed a top-10 finish at TPC Southwind to move into the top-50 of the Standings -- something he hasn't done all season. He opened the tournament strongly with a five-under 65 before following that up with a score of 69 on Friday, but his momentum stalled with a two-over 72 third round. Spieth was projected to enter the top-50 of the Standings after a two-under front nine in the final round, but those hopes were dashed by bogeys on the 11th, 12th and 15th holes. He couldn't gain the strokes he needed over the last three holes, ultimately finishing 52nd in the Standings to miss the top-50 for a third consecutive year. Spieth's next opportunity to tee off at a PGA Tour event will be Sept. 17 at the Biltmore Championship Asheville.
