The most important thing for Dante is that he gets better, not really worried about football right now," Smart said. With what the head coach said, Dowdell's season status remains unchanged, up in the air as the Bulldogs prepare for their season opener Sept. 5 against Tennessee State. Having logged 500-plus rushing yards and several touchdowns for two different Power Conference programs, Dowdell is a big player and would be an even bigger loss for this year's UGA team should he not be available.
