Martin Kaymer, captain of LIV Golf's Cleeks GC, is giving only a "5%" chance the league's season finale in Michigan will take place as scheduled.
"I know that Indianapolis most likely is happening. There was a conversation yesterday. Michigan, highly unlikely," Kaymer told Today's Golfer's Ben Parsons. "So basically, what we already knew. That's why I think (Tuesday's meeting) became a captains' meeting and not a players' meeting, because they couldn't give us much more than we had before."
The Michigan event, boasting a $40-million purse, is scheduled for Aug. 27-30 and will determine the team championship.
In April, LIV postponed its New Orleans tournament, originally scheduled for June.
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund announced in April that it would no longer fund LIV after this season, leaving the league's future in doubt.
Kaymer expressed disappointment about the possibility of turning the individual tournament in Indianapolis into a team event to replace the Michigan finale. However, he admitted that crowning a team champion would be difficult without holding a team event in the finale.
"It's just a shame for the whole LIV Golf schedule if (Michigan) doesn't happen and for the whole team thing because we would love to play match play against each other," Kaymer said.
"That would have been really cool. But if it doesn't happen, it is what it is, and we just need to focus on hopefully 2027 and, you know, hit the reset button and try to be more independent next year."
Kaymer joined LIV in 2022 but hasn't won in the league. The 41-year-old has three wins on the PGA TOUR, including two majors.
