Corey Conners: Jumps 24 spots to T14 at The Open

Rotowire ·

Conners recorded a three-under 67 in the final round of The Open Championship to finish tied with Sungjae Im, Hideki Matsuyama and Bryson DeChambeau for 14th.

Analysis:

Conners started Sunday outside the top-35 on the leaderboard, but he went four-under over his last 11 holes (four birdies and seven pars) to jump into the top-15 for his best finish at a major since his T8 at The Masters in 2024. He led the field at Royal Birkdale in SG: Approach, gaining 7.33 strokes in that category while also finishing in the top-30 in SG: Putting and Tee-to-Green, though he also lost 2.22 strokes off the tee. Conners has two top-15s over his last three tournaments, and his performance at The Open rose him up six spots to 58th in the FedExCup Standings. He's in the field for next week's 3M Open, where he finished T46 in his lone outing at the event in 2019.
