Steur has signed a five year contract with Newcastle United from Ajax, becoming the club's third senior arrival this summer, according to the club. "A top young prospect that has already tasted Champions League and top flight Dutch football," said Head coach Eddie Howe.
Analysis:Steur made his senior Ajax debut during the 2024/25 season before a breakthrough campaign last season, featuring 24 times in all competitions including three Champions League appearances, where he became the club's youngest ever assist maker in the competition. He also won Ajax's Abdelhak Nouri Trophy for the club's top academy talent last season, an award previously given to players including Ryan Gravenberch and Christian Eriksen. The 18 year old midfielder has represented the Netherlands from U15 through U19 level, and will wear the number 14 shirt as he begins the next stage of his career in the Premier League.
