Crystal Palace's Yéremy Pino: Could miss rest of World Cup

Rotowire ·

Pino is set for testing on a potential broken collarbone, according to manager Luis de la Fuente, per Joaquin Anduro of El Desmarque. "Pino can miss the rest of the World Cup. Unfortunately, it could be a shoulder or collarbone injury. We'll see. He's undergoing tests tomorrow, and we'll find out the extent of the injury. He is in a lot of pain, and the effort he made-possibly with a broken collarbone-to hold on until the end of the match was tremendous... It was a heroic effort, and I am very grateful, as are all his teammates."

Analysis:

Pino had gritted through significant pain to finish Friday's win over Uruguay, and the confirmation of a collarbone issue is a worrying development given Spain only brought four true wingers to the tournament. His potential absence is compounded by Victor Munoz already nursing a strain, leaving Spain with thinning options on the flanks heading into the knockout stage.
