The second leg of the Triple Crown runs Saturday, with the 151st Preakness Stakes taking place at Maryland's Laurel Park.

Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo won't be running in the Preakness, ending any chance of a third Triple Crown winner since 2015. Ocelli, Robusta, Incredibolt, and Great White are the only horses in the Preakness who also ran in the Derby.

The Preakness features a smaller field compared to the 20-horse Kentucky Derby. Still, with 14 horses in the running, there will be plenty of traffic for jockeys to navigate early in the race. The Preakness is also the shortest race of the Triple Crown legs, coming in at 1 3/16 miles, or 9.5 furlongs.

💵 The favorites

Iron Honor

Iron Honor opened as the betting favorite in what can be considered a wide-open field, with six horses priced at 8-1 or below. This will be the first Grade 1 race of Iron Honor's career, but he's picked up two victories in three career races. His sire (father) is Nyquist, the 2016 Kentucky Derby winner.

Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is trained by Brittany Russell, who helped Golden Tempo cross the line first at the Kentucky Derby. Taj Mahal, whom Nyquist also sired, has won all three races in his career, with each of them coming at Laurel Park.

Incredibolt

Incredibolt is one of the more experienced horses in the Preakness, having six career races under his belt, including the Kentucky Derby, where he finished sixth after closing at 27-1 to win.

Chip Honcho

This three-year-old hasn't won in 2026, but his underlying speed numbers clearly have early bettors keen on his chances. Chip Honcho is jockeyed by Jose Ortiz, who has won each leg of the Triple Crown.

Ocelli

Ocelli finished third in the Kentucky Derby after closing at 50-1 to win, but he's yet to secure a victory in seven career starts. Perhaps jockey Tyler Gaffalione can get him over the line first, as he did with War of Will in the 2019 Preakness.
