Armia broke his hand during the preseason and his NHL debut will have to wait a little longer as he gets his feet wet in Rochester first, reports John Vogl of the Buffalo News.
Highly regarded in his native Finland, Armia led all SM-liiga rookies in goals in 2010-11 and led Assat Pori to a league championship in 2013. Though the Sabres desperately need some scoring, assigning the 2011 first-round pick to Rochester shouldn't come as a surprise. The 20-year-old has never played a regular season game in North America, something head coach Ron Rolston duly noted, and the Amerks have a strong track record for developing players. At the very least, the assignment was serve as a conditioning stint. Armia is around a week away from returning to game action and he'll have to perform with the Amerks before getting a call-up. Though Luke Adam currently leads the Amerks in goals with seven, Armia will undoubtedly be their most talented goal scorer.
