Sovereignty pulled away from Journalism late once again to win the 157th Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday.

Sovereignty, the horse with the second-lowest odds, also won the Kentucky Derby earlier this year before sitting out the Preakness Stakes to prepare for Belmont. He's the first horse ever to win the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes while skipping the Preakness and the first horse since 2018 to win multiple Triple Crown races.

Journalism won the Preakness without Sovereignty in the running.

The stretch run played out similarly to the Derby, with Sovereignty and jockey Junior Alvarado hitting another gear late to beat race-favorite Journalism. It was the same trifecta as the first Triple Crown event as well, with Baeza finishing third in both races.

Rodriguez rounded out the top four.

Here's how the $2 bets paid out based on the results Saturday:

No. Horse Win Place Show
2 Sovereignty $7.00 $3.20 $2.30
7 Journalism $3.20 $2.30
6 Baeza $2.60

And here's how the exotic wagers paid out:

Combo Payout
$1 Exacta 2-7 $6.60
$1 Trifecta 2-7-6 $13.80
$1 Superfecta 2-7-6-3 $40.50

Here's the final result:

Order of Finish Horse
1 Sovereignty
2 Journalism
3 Baeza
4 Rodriguez
5 Hill Road
6 Heart of Honor
7 Uncaged
8 Crudo

The victory marks trainer Bill Mott's second of the Belmont Stakes, with the other coming in 2010 with horse Drosselmeyer.

Saratoga Race Course hosted this year's event as well as the 2024 edition. The track will also host next year's race due to Belmont Park's ongoing renovation project. Saratoga Race Course's track is shorter at 1.25 miles, compared to Belmont Park's 1.5 miles.
