Report: NHL, Rogers agree to 12-year, $7.7B Canadian TV deal
The NHL and Rogers Communications reached a 12-year Canadian television rights deal worth $7.7 billion ($11 billion CAD), Scott Soshnick and Eben Novy-Williams of Sportico report.
The agreement would kick in for the 2026-27 season. Rogers is nearing the end of its current 12-year contract signed in 2013. The new deal's total and per-year averages are worth more than twice as much as those of the previous deal, Sportico notes.
NHL executives have recommended owners approve the deal. An official announcement could come as soon as this week.
ESPN and TNT own the NHL's television rights in the United States through the 2027-28 campaign. The networks pay the league approximately $600 million per season.
NHL revenues for the 2024-25 season are projected to exceed $6.6 billion, the league's highest-ever sum.
