Report: Chargers signing Harris to 1-year deal worth up to $9.5M
The Los Angeles Chargers are signing running back Najee Harris to a one-year deal worth up to $9.5 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Harris spent the first four years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers after entering the league as a first-round pick in 2021.
The 27-year-old has rushed for 1,000-plus yards every season but has never averaged more than 4.1 yards a carry. He suited up in all 17 games for Pittsburgh last campaign, racking up 1,043 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 263 attempts.
Los Angeles recently released Gus Edwards, and their 2024 leading rusher, J.K. Dobbins, is an unrestricted free agent. The Chargers ranked 27th in rushing success rate last season, according to Ben Baldwin's database.
The Steelers reportedly placed a second-round restricted tender on Jaylen Warren, keeping him under contract at $5.3 million for the 2025 season. Other running backs on Pittsburgh's roster include Cordarrelle Patterson and Aaron Shampklin.
Harris has 4,312 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns in 68 career contests.
