Report: Blues gauging market for Brayden Schenn

The St. Louis Blues are gauging interest in captain Brayden Schenn leading up to the March 7 trade deadline, TSN's Darren Dreger reported on "Insider Trading."

Schenn has a full no-move clause this season, so a trade isn't imminent. His clause drops to a 15-team no-trade list beginning next year and lasts until his contract - which carries a $6.5-million cap hit - expires in 2028.

The Blues would expect a "mammoth" return in any potential deal, Dreger notes. Numerous teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, have checked in with St. Louis about Schenn's availability with centers at a premium for this year's deadline.

Schenn has 30 points in 54 games this season while logging over 17 minutes per contest. He's produced eight 20-goal campaigns in his career and has long been lauded for his physicality. The 33-year-old has averaged 167 hits per season through his 16-year NHL tenure.

Schenn also has 75 games of playoff experience and helped St. Louis win the Stanley Cup in 2019.

The Blues currently sit six points outside a wild-card spot in the Western Conference, putting them on track to miss the playoffs for the third consecutive season.
