Tyson, Paul among most Googled athletes of 2024

The blockbuster boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul led to a lot of Google searches this year.

Tyson and Paul were among the top-five most searched athletes globally on Google in 2024, coming in at No. 2 and No. 5 respectively, according to trends data released by the technology company.

Fellow boxer Imane Khelif was the top-searched athlete of the year, while Barcelona star Lamine Yamal and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles took the No. 3 and No. 4 spots.

In the United States, Tyson ranked as the No. 1 most-searched athlete of the year and Paul again took the No. 5 spot.

The 58-year-old Tyson and 27-year-old Paul squared off Nov. 15 in an eight-round bout at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Paul won via unanimous decision, improving to 11-1 with seven knockouts as a pro.

The match was broadcast live worldwide on Netflix and became the most-streamed sporting event in history, peaking at 65 million concurrent streams.
