Nine Inter fans get lifetime ban after clashes during Juve match
Nine Inter Milan fans have been banned for life from attending future Serie A matches after they were identified in clashes with Juventus supporters during the 1-1 draw between the two sides at the San Siro on Sunday.
According to ESPN FC, the individuals in question were identified through CCTV images, and will not be allowed to step foot into another Italian stadium.
The Osservatorio Nazionale sulle Manifestazioni Sportive, a government agency which oversees sporting events in the country, released the following statement on the matter:
"The organisation expresses particular satisfaction for the work carried out by the Milan Police authorities, which has led to the identification of nine people charged with grievous bodily harm and with climbing over barriers.
"As a result, anti-social (DASPO) orders have been served and their fans’ membership cards have been revoked. The rapid identification of those responsible was made possible by the fact all tickets bear the possessor’s name, there is an efficient surveillance system in the Stadio Meazza, and there was the collaboration of numerous fans, who did not hesitate in sharing their views of the attack on tablets and smartphones.
"All of this confirms that our rigorous strategy is contributing significantly to making Italian stadia lawful venues."
That was not the only trouble to come out of the match for the Nerazzurri.
As a result of racist chanting towards Juventus duo Paul Pogba and Kwadwo Asamoah, Inter will also be forced to close part of its stadium when they host Fiorentina later this month.
