Luka Modric became the oldest goalscorer in European Championship history in Croatia's final Group B match against Italy in Leipzig on Monday.
The Real Madrid midfielder opened the scoring in the 55th minute, less than 60 seconds after he had a penalty saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Modric is 38 years and 289 days old, breaking the record set by Austrian Ivica Vastic in 2008 by 32 days.
Italy scored a 98th-minute equalizer on Monday that will likely see Croatia get eliminated from the tournament. Modric and Co. have a slim chance of advancing to the next round as one of the best third-place teams.
