Edelman: Brady's cheat meal with Patriots was 'a single chicken wing'
Tom Brady apparently didn't stray much from his notoriously strict diet during his time with the New England Patriots.
In an interview with People's Natasha Dye, former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman revealed that Brady would eat "a single chicken wing" as his cheat meal.
"He used to love chicken wings once in a while," Edelman said. "We used to have the same team meals every night before the game because we would stay in hotels and usually we'd cater the same types of foods and there'd always be some sort of chicken wing.
"And Tom would always have one chicken wing for his guilty pleasure before we would huddle off to bed."
Brady followed a diet that consisted of 80% vegetables and 20% lean meats during his playing days, but he avoided nightshades like tomatoes, peppers, and mushrooms.
"He does live by that diet. I'm not going to lie," Edelman said of Brady. "He does practice what he preaches. We used to get in arguments all the time about it."
Brady was inducted into the Patriots' Hall of Fame on Wednesday and had his No. 12 jersey officially retired by the team. The Patriots also plan to erect a 12-foot-tall statue of the quarterback outside Gillette Stadium.
