Jimmy Butler could take his talents to Brazil once his NBA career comes to an end.
The Heat star told GQ's Rohan Nadkarni that while he'd like Miami to be his final stop in the NBA, he has dreams of playing for Flamengo in Brazil's premier men's basketball league.
"I mean, yeah. In the NBA? For sure," Butler said of ending his career with the Heat. "But then after that, I really do want to play for Flamengo. I tell everybody, I'm half-Brazilian."
Flamengo has won the the top-tier Brazilian National League title eight times and the FIBA Intercontinental Cup twice. The Rio de Janeiro-based club has also played several preseason games against NBA teams, most recently the Orlando Magic in October 2023.
Butler, 34, has two years remaining on his current contract with the Heat, including a $52.4-million player option for the 2025-26 season.
