Longtime Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce said he has some regrets about calling it quits this offseason now that Saquon Barkley is heading to the City of Brotherly Love.
While discussing the Barkley signing on the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast, Kelce admitted that he wishes he could be part of what he expects to be an "outstanding" season for the Eagles. However, he's excited to cheer on his former team from the sidelines.
"This is what I'm regretting. I knew when I retired that I was going to miss just an outstanding season for the Philadelphia Eagles, and it sucks, it really does," Kelce said. "I want to be a part of this so bad. I wish I could. But it doesn't suck in the way that I get to say, 'Hey, I'm a Philadelphian, and I get to watch it and celebrate it just like everybody else.' So I'm excited for that. 'Cause it's gonna be damn good."
Kelce retired earlier this month after 13 seasons in the NFL, all of which he spent with the Eagles.
Barkley left the New York Giants after six seasons to join the NFC East-rival Eagles, reportedly agreeing to terms on a three-year, $37.75-million contract. He'll take over the lead-back role in Philadelphia following the departure of D'Andre Swift.
