The Carolina Panthers parted ways with wide receiver David Gettis on Friday.

Gettis was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury as the Panthers trimmed the roster down to 53. With the injury settlement Gettis can become a free agent and possibly even return to Carolina this season as opposed to sitting out the whole year on IR.
Gettis was a sixth-round draft pick of the Panthers in 2010. He had 37 catches for 508 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie, but injuries limited him to just two games over the past two season.
