X map shows most of U.S. rooting for Michigan in CFP

Michigan is the overwhelming fan favorite across the United States entering the College Football Playoff semifinals, new X data shows.

A map created by BetOnline.ag based on over 250,000 geotagged tweets about this year's College Football Playoff shows No. 1 Michigan has the most support of the four schools, with 35 states rooting for the Wolverines to win the national championship.

No. 4 Alabama was the second most popular pick with eight states, followed by No. 3 Texas with four states and No. 2 Washington with three.

The semifinals will kick off Jan. 1 at 4 p.m. ET, with Michigan facing Alabama in the Rose Bowl, followed by the Sugar Bowl between Washington and Texas at 8:45 p.m. ET. The winners will then square off for the national championship on Jan. 8 in Houston.
