More bad news on the injury front coming out of Week 1 for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Jay Hughes is out for the season (Achilles).

Hughes, a 5-foot-11 junior, played in all 13 games for the Bulldogs in 2012, registering 32 tackles, and was expected to the team's starting free safety in 2013.
His loss to a torn Achilles, suffered in the first quarter on Saturday, is a tough one for the team. Defensive coordinator Geoff Collins said:
"I was hugging Jay while we were both in tears because he's such a great kid. Your heart goes out to a kid like that because he puts so much into the program and plays for two series. We've asked Jay to be the quarterback of the defense at times."
Crossed paths with Jay Hughes at Seal Complex as he was leaving. Even on crutches he was holding the door for incoming HS campers. Great guy
