Report: West Ham reject Man City's opening £80M bid for Rice
West Ham United are determined to get at least £100 million for star midfielder Declan Rice.
After rejecting two bids from Arsenal worth less than their asking price, the Hammers turned down Manchester City's opening £80-million offer for Rice on Tuesday, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.
City's package totaled £90 million, including add-ons, according to Ornstein.
Last week, West Ham reportedly rejected Arsenal's club-record offer of £75 million plus £15 million in bonuses, with the Gunners insisting on paying the guaranteed portion over five years.
Arsenal are expected to submit a third bid for Rice, who's out of contract at the end of next season. It's unclear if City will return with a higher figure and if they're willing to pay the fee in fewer installments.
Rice would prefer to stay in London and play for Mikel Arteta's side, but City's interest - coupled with Pep Guardiola's potential plan to play the 24-year-old further up the pitch - could change his attitude, The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg reports.
