Kevin Love says there's no question Kyrie Irving deserves to have his jersey retired by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"Without a doubt. Absolutely. Right away, after his career ends," Love told Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com on Monday. "It's not even a question to me. He needs to be up there.
"He made the biggest shot in franchise history and one of the most important shots in Finals history when you consider how it all went down - what it meant for the city, what it meant for his legacy, LeBron's legacy, and everything else, including that Golden State team that became a dynasty and was historically great."
Irving was selected No. 1 overall by the Cavs in the 2011 NBA Draft and spent the first six seasons of his career in Cleveland, helping lead the franchise to its first-ever championship in 2016. He averaged 27.1 points during the 2016 Finals and hit a crucial 3-pointer late in Game 7 to seal the title for the Cavs.
The Cavs have retired seven jersey numbers to date: Robert "Bingo" Smith's No. 7, Zydrunas Ilgauskas' No. 11, Larry Nance's No. 22, Mark Price's No. 25, Austin Carr's No. 34, Nate Thurmond's No. 42, and Brad Daugherty's No. 44.
