Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick believes he was the "motherf-----" Tom Brady referred to in a viral clip last year.

Brady was discussing his free-agency experience on an episode of HBO's "The Shop" in June 2021 when he revealed how an unnamed team he was interested in signing with chose to stick with its current quarterback over him.

"One of the teams, they weren't interested at the very end," Brady said. "I was thinking, you're sticking with that motherf-----?"

There's been plenty of speculation about who Brady was talking about, with Ryan Fitzpatrick, Derek Carr, and Jimmy Garoppolo all pointed to as possible targets. But Fitzpatrick told "The Dan Le Batard Show" on Tuesday that he's confident it was him and the Miami Dolphins.

"I think I still am that guy," Fitzpatrick said. "If you go back to that, again, that's before the 2019 season where the Dolphins are trying to assemble a roster that is going to help them get a better draft pick the next year. So, it's not like that was going to be an attractive situation for Tom anyway. So, I'm not sure why he was so upset about it. But I still believe to this day that I am that mutha."

Fitzpatrick also shared how he wanted to incorporate the dig into a T-shirt.

"I tried to get my wife to make a few T-shirts so I could wear them around," he said. "We were just trying to figure out, with all the kids around, which letters to blank out."

Fitzpatrick started 20 games across two seasons with the Dolphins before he was replaced by Tua Tagovailoa, whom the team selected No. 5 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Fitzpatrick retired from the NFL in June after 17 seasons.
