LIV Golf will play an expanded schedule in 2023, with 48 players within 12 established teams set to compete in 14 tournaments featuring increased prize money, the Saudi-backed rival circuit announced Wednesday.

The organization is hosting eight events throughout its debut season in 2022. Many players who joined LIV said the shorter schedule was a key draw in breaking away from the PGA TOUR.

Sites for next year haven't been confirmed, but LIV's announcement said the new schedule will take players across North and Latin Americas, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and Europe. The increased number of events won't interfere with the four majors, international team events, or heritage tournaments.

"LIV Golf's expanding global platform will add a new dimension to the golf ecosystem as we know it, one that provides an opportunity for players and fans around the world to help maximize our beloved sport's true potential," CEO and commissioner Greg Norman said in a statement.

"Our franchise model will bring new energy and excitement to fans from all corners of the world, establishing a league of teams to connect and grow with."

LIV also announced additional tournaments through its international series, which shares ties with the Asian Tour. The venture aims to create "pathways for amateurs and the next generation of leading players."

The second LIV event on American soil takes place this weekend at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
