Vince Carter had nearly $100,000 in cash stolen from his Atlanta home during a burglary over the weekend, according to an incident report released by Atlanta police Wednesday.

The former NBA player's wife, Sondi Carter, told police she was in bed with her two sons around 11:50 p.m. ET on Sunday night when she heard loud noises, Henri Hollis of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. She hid inside a closet with her children and called 911 before texting her neighborhood patrol.

A neighborhood patrol officer arrived on the scene first and saw a man flee the home to get into a waiting SUV. The officer was unable to catch him.

No one was hurt during the incident, but police said the front window of the family's main house was smashed. Officers also discovered "a large amount of $100 bills spilled on the ground" outside the window, along with the Carters' gold Desert Eagle pistol and a black Glock 26 pistol, which investigators believe the suspect was carrying.

Vince Carter played 22 seasons in the NBA before retiring with the Atlanta Hawks in 2020. He currently works as an analyst for ESPN.
