Le'Veon Bell is set to enter the boxing ring this summer.
YouTuber and boxer Austin McBroom revealed to TMZ Sports that the running back will compete on the undercard of his July 30 match against AnEsonGib at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. McBroom didn't reveal any of the other names on the card but said it includes a former Los Angeles Lakers player.
"He's been trying to get into the ring for awhile now," McBroom said of Bell. "He actually stopped playing football recently. For those who know him, he literally just had a contract, I believe last year, and he basically stopped it for boxing and making music. So he's excited to get in the ring."
The 30-year-old Bell spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, totaling 39 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns along with five receptions for 30 yards and another score across eight games.
Bell said that before signing with the Bucs in December, he considered retiring from football to pursue a boxing career. However, he couldn't pass up the opportunity to play alongside Tom Brady and reunite with his former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Antonio Brown.
Bell's opponent and the rest of the card for the July 30 event are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
