Sadio Mane has decided to leave Liverpool after six memorable seasons with the Premier League club.

The 30-year-old is hoping to seal a transfer this summer despite having one year remaining on his contract, The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano and Andy Hunter report.

Bayern Munich are reportedly pushing to sign Mane, but other clubs are expected to fight for his signature.

Liverpool would demand at least £30 million for the energetic forward, according to Romano and Hunter. They'd also want to secure a replacement before allowing the player to leave.

Before taking the pitch in Paris for Saturday's Champions League final - which Liverpool lost to Real Madrid - Mane promised to give "the best answer you want to hear" to British media. Liverpool supporters speculated he'd announce an extension and avoid a potential breakup.

It's unlikely the 1-0 defeat to Madrid had any effect on Mane's decision, as Romano reports the Senegalese international has simply resolved to try something new.

The Senegal international has built an impressive resume since joining Jurgen Klopp's side in 2016, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup. He's racked up 120 goals and 38 assists in 269 appearances for the Merseyside outfit and emerged as a Ballon d'Or candidate for 2022.

Klopp, who recently signed an extension until June 2026, could face a number of changes to his squad. Super substitute Divock Origi is set to leave on a free transfer, and Roberto Firmino's and Mohamed Salah's deals expire next summer.

Unlike his teammate, Salah said prior to Saturday's showpiece he'd see out the final year of his contract.

"I'm staying next season, for sure," the Egyptian said. "Let's see after that."
