The Los Angeles Lakers have requested permission to interview Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Darvin Ham for their head coaching vacancy, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Ham, 48, spent the past 11 seasons on NBA sidelines, including as part of Mike Brown's Lakers staff from 2011 to 2013. After five seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, he joined Milwaukee in 2018, winning the championship last season.

Prior to coaching, Ham played eight years in the NBA from 1996 to 2005, predominantly as a member of the Bucks and Detroit Pistons.

Ham and the Bucks are preparing for Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Boston Celtics, which tips off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
