Report: Saints meet with Watson for 2nd time
The New Orleans Saints met with Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson for a second time Wednesday night, sources told Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
Saints owner Gayle Benson was among those who attended the meeting, adds Underhill.
New Orleans is the first team to reportedly meet with Watson twice. The Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons also apparently spoke with Watson earlier in the week. The Browns were reportedly notified Thursday that they're no longer in the running for Watson.
The Saints restructured four contracts to push their cap room to $29.9 million, a source told Field Yates of ESPN, seemingly to facilitate Watson's potential acquisition.
Houston is reportedly asking for a package that includes three first-round picks. Watson's suitors had to have their trade compensation approved by the Texans before being allowed to talk to the quarterback.
