The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hope to re-sign tight end Rob Gronkowski now that quarterback Tom Brady has committed to a return in 2022, a source told Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

Brady announced his comeback Sunday following a retirement that lasted less than two months. Gronkowski has played with Brady in every season of the tight end's career.

Gronkowski hit free agency Monday after wrapping up his second season with the Buccaneers. The 32-year-old is weighing retirement and reportedly had interest from the Buffalo Bills, his hometown team, before the market opened.

A four-time Super Bowl champion, Gronkowski had 55 catches for 802 yards and six touchdowns over 12 appearances last season. He ranks third all time among tight ends with 92 career touchdown receptions.
