Rob Lowe reveals why Pat Riley banned him from traveling with Lakers
Rob Lowe's bad influence on Los Angeles Lakers players in the 1980s apparently led to head coach Pat Riley barring him from the team plane.
On Wednesday's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" the actor recalled how he and Jack Nicholson would travel on the road with the Lakers during the mid-to-late 1980s. However, Lowe said he eventually had that privilege taken away.
"Pat Riley ended up barring me from going on the team plane and, really, barred me from staying in the team hotel ... I mean, what a badge of honor to be banned by Pat Riley, come on," Lowe said.
He believes a drug-related incident may have been the reason for the ban.
"It might've been when I gave a player, who shall go nameless, a Quaalude, and they went on an 0-for-60 shooting slump," Lowe joked before saying the slump was somewhere closer to 0-for-32.
