The Houston Astros trailed for almost all of Game 4 as the Boston Red Sox seemed poised to take a 3-1 stranglehold in the ALCS on Tuesday. But Houston's bats woke up in the ninth inning, staging an epic parade of hits that scored seven runs en route to a series-tying 9-2 victory.

It began with a go-ahead RBI single from Jason Castro off of Nathan Eovaldi to make it 3-2. Eovaldi was summoned from the bullpen to maintain the tie after starting Game 2 on Saturday.

After Eovaldi ceded the lead, the Red Sox hailed Martin Perez from the bullpen. Perez's first pitch was laced into the outfield by Michael Brantley for a bases-clearing three-run double.

Kyle Tucker added insult to injury, cashing in Yordan Alvarez by smoking a single that was mishandled by Christian Arroyo, who seemed to be shifted perfectly.

In all, the Astros collected seven runs on six hits and three walks in the frame. Houston trailed from the bottom of the first until the top of the eighth when Jose Altuve tied the game with a solo homer.

Eovaldi, hit with the loss, was charged with four runs on two hits and two walks. He struck out a pair.

"(Eovaldi) was going to give us one inning and we felt that pocket was good for him," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said postgame, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive. The right-hander was called from the 'pen to face the middle of the Astros' order, starting with No. 5 hitter Carlos Correa.

The ALCS is now tied 2-2. Game 5 will be played in Boston on Wednesday before the series returns to Houston for Game 6 on Friday. Minute Maid Park will host Game 7 on Saturday If necessary.
