Allegri: Ronaldo 'no longer has any intention' to stay at Juventus

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed Friday that Manchester United target Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his desire to leave the Italian club.

"Yesterday, Cristiano told me that he no longer has any intention to play for Juventus," Allegri said. "For this reason, he will not be called up for tomorrow's game."

He added: "Things change, it's a law of life. Juventus remains, which is the most important thing. Cristiano gave his contribution, he made himself available, now he leaves, and life goes on."

Ronaldo's representatives reportedly held talks with Manchester City officials earlier this week about the 36-year-old making a return to the Premier League.

City manager Pep Guardiola and Ronaldo reportedly spoke on the phone Thursday, and the club engaged in contract talks with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's agent, Jorge Mendes.

However, the defending Premier League champions reportedly had a change of heart and pulled out of the race Friday.

Ronaldo's former club, Manchester United, emerged as the new favorite to sign the superstar. Mendes has also reportedly held negotiations with United officials over a deal to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford 12 years after his departure.

Juventus have yet to receive an official offer. The Italian side is reportedly demanding a fee in the region of €28 million.

Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018 and has helped the club win a pair of Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia.

"Cristiano is to be thanked for what he has done, also as an example amongst the youngsters. But as I said, we must go on," Allegri said.

Ronaldo has scored 101 goals in 134 appearances with Juventus.
