Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Cristian Romero to north London on Friday after signing the center-back from Atalanta, the Premier League club announced.
The Argentine international joins the Spurs for a fee reportedly worth up to €55 million. Atalanta will initially receive €50 million and could earn a further €5 million if certain conditions in their agreement with Tottenham are met.

The reported fee is the second highest in Tottenham history, behind the €60 million the Spurs paid to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon in 2019.
Terms of his contract weren't officially disclosed, but Tottenham signed Romero to a five-year contract, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.
The 23-year-old is coming off a breakout season after being recognized as Serie A's best defender for an Atalanta side that finished third.
Romero is the club's third summer signing, with the Spurs completing deals for goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and winger Bryan Gil.
